ITs amazing the racket that the EPA has going on freon. Let me say this R22a is going to perform best if you draw down the system and refill with the correct amount of all r22a. It uses 40% of what R22 would draws less amps, has lower high side pressure and cools . just great. Save some mega cash and convert your R22 to R22a - No license needed- thanks!

This is a great product. My a/c unit was low on refrigerant and I didn't want to pay the outrageous refrigerant prices from local a/c companies at 75.00 per pound plus service call of 85.00. An average unit takes around 7 lbs @ cost of 75.00 per lb. This product drop my house temp from a warm 86 degree to a comfortable 78 within the first hour. I highly recommend this product to any diy homeowner that likes to save money..

Works as advertised. Very inexpensive compared to r22. I am DIY by necessity and last year my central air died so borrowed window units...painful. Hvac guy said 6000 for new system... No thanks. Lots of research and replaced capacitors, got hard start kit, used 2cfm vacuum and installed 22a. It is working and all cost less than if I had r22 refilled. No worries about explosion...the rest of the world seems to be just fine! And Haven't read about many explosions at Mcdonalds or Pepsi recently...safe enough for me!

I was experimenting with a cheap Chinese split HVAC/heat pump (being in Illinois I use the AC only) for my basement - a very cold winter made a small leak at the shredder valve and lost about half my R-22 rendering the AC useless - I did thought it too much to call in a licensed HVAC tech for just about 6 pounds of Freon - this replacement made my day - week and summer now! BTW the cylinder only weights 17 lbms but the claim that this is gas does the job with 20% less appears correct - I used less the 4 lbs and the system runs great - Thank you!

New Customer 1st Purchase Review by Lawrence
Price

Quality

Ordered on Monday and received Friday via UPS ground.

Used 22-A to top off A/C (heat pump) system after repairing a copper-line leak. System was vacuumed down then partially filled by using up what I previously had on hand, which was Enviro-Safe 22a.

Register temperature now gets down to near 50 degrees (probably need to clean the evaporator coils). Then again, we're 20 degrees below summer-time highs.

The one thing glaringly missing is a charging chart showing low/high side pressures for various ambient temperatures of air entering the condenser coils. The "Guidelines for the Pressure of 22A" published on the website are inadequate.

Some worry about flammability of this product, which is true enough. However if freon burns it give off phosgene gas which is VERY TOXIC. Nothing is 100% safe. This does a good job in my system, both cooling and heating. Until another alternative is developed this is a good solution.

Product good, service not so good. Review by Mel

Wanted to keep components of my old R-22 system while replacing condensing unit. Pressures from R-410A were too high for my old components. Also did not want to continue to use R-22 for both environmental and availibility reasons. Had new R-22 "dry" condenser installed and the Frost 22-A substitute seems to be working very well.

Service from RuralKing was not so good. Their web site showed it as "in stock" , but it took 11 days to ship. When I inquired, they said that they were out of the "in stock" item at their web distribution point and they needed to pass order to one of their retail stores. Don't understand why this should take 11 days. Also found that they did not have a handle on shipping progress and did not know if item had actually been picked up by shipper.

Looks like they are selling some, since price has gone up $20.

Buyer Beware this is a volatile product highly flammable!!! Review by Bob
Quality
Price

This is not a refrigerant gas per say, it is 95% comprised of Butane/Propane and while it works in R-22 systems the very system leaks this product is sold to overcome in the first place may well vent it into your furnace or water heater area where ignition sources are present.

This will burn and or cause an explosion if an ignition source is present, you wouldn't store your grills propane bottle in your furnace room would you? Those line sets that run from the outside condenser to your furnace coil are going to be full of this stuff if you use it.

Weight Review by Bill
Price
Value
Quality

The empty cylinder weighs 5lb 6oz not 12lbs. according to my scales. If 12lbs of 22a equals 30# drum of R22 that means for every ounce of 22a it would equal 2.5 times that of R22. The full weight of drum is 278oz., so if your unit holds 250oz divide by 2.5 to get the oz needed of 22a or 100oz. If unit is empty subtract the 100oz charge from full weight. When weight drops to 178oz you are very close. Stuff works great.

I just replaced a compressor in my 1997 Rheem two ton r-22 Heat pump and filled it with r-22a.This stuff is amazing. I used less than half the amount of r-22. The head pressure runs at a much lower psi
and this old unit purrs like a kitten. Dump your r-22 and replace it with r-22a your unit will last much longer.

Amazing Review by Mikeyboy

Used this on two seperate unit. Mine and my mothers. Installed a brand new 5ton heat pump at my 2300SqFt house. Replaced the gas with 22-A. I was amazed on how cold the unit ran. Electric bill was about $200 less. This winter I was anxious waiting to see what the performance was on the heat pump. This was amazing again. Down to 40F it was great. Down to 25F it struggled. Bill was down about $300 for winter. Which was not band. Typicall it is $700 with my gas furnace. The gas Furnace is now backup.

Now I installed it on my mom's 2.5 ton heat pump with electric backup.

Installed based on weight instead of psi. Will defintely recommend it.

Worked great!! I can buy r22 but wanted to try this because it cheaper to run. Was suppose to same me 25% on the cast of running on my light bill. I was doubting how good it would work But to my surprise it worked very will in fact my ac unit said it took 5lbs of r22 and I only put in 2lbs of this stuff and got readings of 65 to 75 on low side and around 250lb on my hi side and my ducks was putting out 53 deg. air. Works as advertised Review by Josh

At my job we have 3 20ton water chillers all running on R22. 4 or 5 times a year a line breaks and we lose all the r22 from that compressor. The latest one to lose its charge I filled with this stuff and it works great! It is a well known fact that propane is a very good refrigerant (much better that R22). Head pressure dropped from 275psi to 150 so less energy used and wear and tear on the compressor. You also need much less of this stuff so make sure you don't over charge. Ignore the few negative reviews as they are from HVAC guys who are afraid of losing out on work if people can work on their own equipment. Yes propane is flammable but your putting it into an enclosed system with NO oxygen. If you do spring a leak somewhere the propane would have to be mixed in the exact air fuel ratio and be near an ignition source at the same time. I think there are many other hazards around your home that you should be worried about!

I moved a friends mobile home, the A/C people said it would cost between $500 and $750 dollars to reinstall central A/C. They also said it would take them 5 weeks before they could come out due to work load. I order this product the same day ($141), it arrived 5 days later. I used my R12/R134a gauges to install the R22a. Extremely fast charging, very little used. It is now 2 weeks later and A/C is still cold and the owner of the house says that the unit runs less often. Very good value for the money. I still have enough to recharge 3 or 4 units the same size.

Do the seals or anything else have to changed out for an older system with mineral oil

When charging the system by high side pressure the suction pressure is way to low. Example: The outside air is 70 degrees. I charged the high side to 114 lbs pressure ( according to the pressure chart). However in doing so the suction pressure is way to low at about 25 lbs. This causes the evaporator to freeze up. Please adviise. Thank you.
