elect. water bottles Review by Karen S.

we ordered three water bottles and two of them couldn't be used at all. I ordered the extra bottles and didn't hook them up or anything just put them away for later usage if needed . well I did need to hook them up and come to find out they both had holes in them and NO I couldn't repair them. I lost the rec. after all this time. at 20.00 a piece I think they should have been inspected at the factory but they wasn't or they didn't do their job. So now we're out of luck. The two that we got before my order is still working great. I'm just very disappointed in the quality of these two I have here that aren't able to be repaired.
CHECK THEM GOOD BEFORE U USE THEM MINE HAVE HOLES AT THE BOTTOM NEAR THE BLACK PIECE AT THE BOTTOM.

I've had for about a month and has been working great. Even with the well below zero temps we've had the last week and a half, it's working just fine. Yes cord is short but that is only complaint so far

Good water bottle Review by Wesley Wilson

I would have given this product all five stars, but the cap is hinged at the back so that if you mount it on the outside of the cage as we do (to prevent the rabbit from chewing a hole in the plastic bottle), it is difficult to fill. Hinging it on the side would have permitted the bottle to be easily filled regardless of whether it was mounted inside or outside the cage.

I use 2 of these per chicken run with 5 chickens each. The runs have an outdoor run attached to an indoor run. I use them in the indoor run & have never had an issue with freezing water.

Works for us Review by Chuck

We have two of these, and have had a couple minor issues, but overall they work pretty well.

Pros
- Lid on top so you can fill without removing
- thermostat controlled so you don't have to turn off to prevent wasting electric
- durable (had one for over 2 years, and still working
- enough capacity for about 2 days (depends on rabbit and weather)
- no leaks

Cons
- Lid hinge broke on one of ours
- short cord (requires additional extension cord
- if it gets really cold (-5 F) the water will still be liquid, but the brass nipple will freeze up (we started using heat lamps in the hutch, and this went away

This is a great idea, but having had these water bottles for three seasons now, I have to warn you against buying one. The brass licker will leak after a few months, leaving a long string of ice beneath it, and the tightening nut is so far into the bottle that it's impossible to get a wrench on it. A long pair of needle nosed pliers will reach, but then you can't turn the nut because the plier handles get stuck in the neck of the bottle and there's no leeway to move. I ended up applying silicone through a drinking straw to get all the way down there and stop the leak - in every single bottle..

Secondly, the lid will break at the hinge after a bit of use, so I'd advise putting a piece of duct tape on the hinge when it's new, and perhaps that will strengthen it enough to keep it from cracking off. Also every single bottle - except one, in my case.

The cord is only a foot long. Why someone thought this was a good idea is beyond me. As a producer, I have several hutches in a line - and I can't connect them all to one extension cord because the water bottle cord is so short. I had to supply an extension cord for each water bottle, which then went into a power strip. That's not only a lot of cords, but also alot of connections that have to be waterproofed. If they had only made the cords a few feet long like other watering devices, then I could have used one extension cord every three water bottles.

And last, after about two seasons the whole heated back and bottom will crack off, and after 3 seasons the bottle itself will crack. So you've got three winters at most out of these bottles.

I have a dozen of these that I bought from three different stores at different times in one season - so its not just a manufacturer's defect issue in a single product run. I have one bottle left that is usable after three seasons, and I've had to repair them in one way or another from season one.

I'd advise getting a one quart heated bowl instead. It's not as handy, but you'll get many years of use out of it. These bottle just have too many problems - especially for this price.

Too bad. This was a good idea - just really badly executed. What a great amount of money I wasted - I hope you don't waste yours too.

. This a very handy item. Whoever invented it should get 10 STARS, and then some. This is a good quality heated water bottle. I've discovered this was the best place to purchase it. That is price wise.

Thumbs up, after a week of below freezing temps Review by Garren From Missouri

After a week of freezing temperatures, so far, so good. Pricing and shipping costs were reasonable, and the package arrived in a timely manner; along with email notifications. The bottles have preformed as advertised, thus far. Durability is yet to be seen, though, as we are not even close to the deepest, harshest part of winter in these parts.

The bottles look to be of good quality, and the flip tops make filling them a breeze. My only complaint about the bottles is that the cord on them is only about a foot long. In a bit of comedic irony, the instructions say to NOT use an extension cord. Needless to say that suggestion has to be ignored.

At this point, I've been happy with the purchase and would recommend this product, and seller to anyone who needs an ice free watering solution for their small animals.

This was the perfect solution to a problem we have had for several years - how to keep our bunnies' water from freezing. The bottles are a nice size, so we don't even have to fill them every day (we have 4 bunnies). They are also very convenient to fill, since they do not have to be removed - they are just filled from the top. Kudos to whoever invented this product!
