I have not had a lot of experience shooting a bow but I have just been getting into it and have shot some different targets. One of my targets is several layers of soft foam (stacked on top of each other) with some plastic wrapped around to keep them in place. The arrows go in and stop around 3/4 of the way. They are a little difficult to get out so I flip the target on its back and use my foot to help pull them out. The arrows never go through however and the target kind of has a self-healing effect but it cost around $50-70. Another target we shoot at is a solid foam block. Pretty much similar results as the layered foam but it has more use so if you hit a spot that has been hit several times, your arrow might go through and you have to pull it out the back.
I used this target once with someone else shooting along with me for several hours. Because of its size we could both shoot at different spots at the same time. I love the target as the arrows go in about 3/4 of the way and are incredibly easy to pull out! On one occasion I shot high and hit the target but not where the foam part was. In that case my arrow stopped at the fletchings. I did not lose the flecthings but it was my mistake anyway because I shot too high.
I shoot a Monster Chill (up to 333fps) and I am unsure on my current fps since I am tuned down 8lbs from the max weight.
Overall I love this target and need to build something so I can hang it up using the attached loops.

Friend called to ask me to go in half on this $40 target because it was large. The target had high ratings elsewhere. The size is great so you can shoot at many spots instead of a few. You don't have to worry about striking your expensive arrows and ruining them. Oddly when we began shooting, most of our arrows would stop perfectly and release easily. However, some would not stop until the fletching hit. If the fletching was fully absorbed, getting the arrow out stripped off the fletchings all together (Gold Tip Fiber Carbons aren't cheap). Mind you we used tips smaller than the arrow diameter per target mfg instructions. Since I had only spent $20 on my half, I bought a second to double the stopping power (I don't like rewarding this level of quality but I was sort of stuck). When I returned to the store they had 5 left and all but one was damaged. The internal foam had delaminated and and you basically had a bag of vertical foam strips. Double targets work well. I made a 1-1/2" pvc pipe stand they hang from. This target is easy to see from any shooting distance. The mfg has a bag replacement if ever needed. Other reviews say you can shoot 1,000s before needing it.
