Easily make delicious homemade ice cream with the Carey 6 Qt. Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker. Store bought ice cream can’t compare to the flavors of fresh ice cream. Gather the family together for summertime BBQs and enjoy a delicious, refreshing treat in about 30 minutes. This ice cream maker is just like the one grandma used to have, but has been improved with modern conveniences. The interchangeable design offers two ways to make ice cream: use either the electric motor or the hand crank. Let the electric motor do the mixing while you sit back and relax, or have the kids take turns using the hand crank. The electric motor can easily make homemade ice cream for a big group during a BBQ or party and it keeps your hands free. The hand crank gives you the flexibility to harden the ice cream mixture at the end of the mixing cycle without having to use a freezer. It’s great to use the hand crank while camping and you’re without electricity. Detailed instructions for making three tested and perfected flavors of tasty ice cream are included in the package. Choose classic vanilla, rich chocolate, or strawberry. Make it yourself at home to control the quality of the ingredients and the intensity of the flavors. Some store bought ice creams include chemical stabilizers and artificial flavors. You can make ice cream just the way you like it, without all the unnecessary additives.

Making your own ice cream is as easy as 1, 2, 3. First prepare the ingredients, then pour the mixture into the aluminum can. Insert the paddle and seal the lid. Add ice and rock salt to the pine tub, install the electric motor or the hand crank, then mix for about 30 minutes.

Includes an aluminum mixing can with a clear plastic lid. The old fashioned pine tub is sealed for durability. The ice crusher helps you keep the ice and rock salt from binding up, and the mixing paddle keeps the ice cream mixture moving so it sets up evenly.

  • Combo design offers two ways to make ice cream - easily switch between hand crank and electric motor in seconds
  • Makes up to 6 quarts of rich and creamy ice cream and sherbet
  • Makes soft ice cream in about 30 minutes
  • Includes aluminum can with clear plastic lid, sealed pine tub, ice crusher, and mixing paddle
  • Tested and perfected recipes included in the product manual

Junk Review by Fred Hammersmith

Motor is to weak to freeze ice cream properly (soupy). The hand crank would not work (even the first time I tried it) the gears just slip. I'm really disappointed Rural King sells these units.

Nice price to gather together. Review by Jerry

Like the dual action hand crank or electric, nice talking piece for younger ones.

Weak motor - not recommended Review by Dallas Mitchell

This thing looks nice. Unfortunately, the performance was very poor. The motor is not strong enough to get the mix to a proper consistency, and it basically stops long before the mix is actually done. I know from experience you get the best results when you don't fill these things up more than half, and absolutely no more than 3/4 full. I started this one and an old 4 quart at the same time, each half full with the same mix; this one stopped first and the ice cream was soupy, not frozen as it should be. My trusty 4 quart made a proper batch, just like it always does.

I already had 2 hand crank freezers before buying this one, so didn't bother trying that.

Bottom line: Avoid this. You will be much happier with a couple 4 quart freezers than one of these, and probably save some money too. If the motor improves this will be a winner.

Motor design, poor Review by William Woods

I bought this ice cream maker about 3 years ago. After about 3 uses, the motor started slipping. I took the motor apart and found that they have a metal gear meshing with a plastic gear. This will not work. In order tho fix it you have to buy the whole motor. They need to have separate parts available instead of having to buy an expensive part that you don't need.

Gift Review by Kevin Borkenhagen

My family received this as a Christmas Gift and we were thrilled to get an electric/hand crank ice cream maker.

The only negative thing was it leaked a lot of water first time using.

Also sent a picture to customer service showing there were 2 indention's. 1 I could see why, but not for the other. (this was the container) for liquid.

Lots of fun for the whole family!! Review by Newton

I have 6 grandchildren and they all live in town, and are always coming over. They range in age from 1yr to 11yrs. I bought this ice cream maker so we would something to do together when they were over. Man oh man..this is one of the best things I've bought!

My wife has come up wiith all sorts of recipes from custard to different types of ice cream and this machine has come through like a champ! No more going to DQ ahahha!! We usually start out with the handcrank, but a 6yr old gets tired we switch to electric! I'm going to buy some more as presents. Love it

Works great and I love the way the motor is sealed so salt cannot get to it.

poor quality Review by unhappy costumer

this is a cheap make ice cream maker bought it a couple weeks ago. all the family was over last night so I thought I would get it out an make some home made ice cream. well to start out the electric motor would not work right the canister would turn but the spatula would not and as soon as I started to put ice around the canister the motor would stop . no ice jam could turn canister with my fingers. so I thought I would try the nand crank . cheap made gears out of plastic would turn a couple turns then gears would just jump and not turn had to have my boy hold the plastic together to get it to work. finaly gave up and went down to neighbors and got his ice old ice cream maker worked great . going to take the cheap thing back and see if I can return it
