Holds about 2 loads of clothes and Needed Modification to Work Review by Lightweight and requires modification

The product is lightweight and did require some modification to hold up under the weight of wet laundry. There is a little plastic screw that is suppose to hold up the arms, well that would have never worked.

But with the help of man's best friend, ducttape, it has worked well over the last year.

We were not sure if we were going to use it, so the $40 price point was a way to try it. Now we love the reduced electric bill and have had no issues.

Just know that you will need to buy some duct tape to prevent it from folding up.

But glad we bought it.

Lightweight Review by Illini Fan

We installed this product this summer and used it all summer long. Had to modify the plastic screw holding the umbrella up during the first use, did not hold up once laundry was added, had to add a pin to hold it up. Also one windy day about 2 months after installation it bent in half with only half a load of laundry on it and I had to replace the main pole with a steel pipe (main pole was hollow aluminum). The arms are also aluminum, a poor choice for this product, they have lost their shape under weight of laundry and one is bend because of the bent main pole incident. This product now holds 4 loads of laundry, after all the modifications mentioned. Because of the light weight material used to make it, it will not last more then one season. Next year I will have to find a stronger umbrella as that and the clothes line are the only original pieces of this product left. If you are serious about using a clothes line to dry clothes, spend a little more, it will be worth it. Otherwise, this product is not intended for a family of four's regular laundry use.

Bad Design Review by Tj

This is the most asinine design I have ever seen. I drove 40 miles to find a store that had them, then installed it right away. It will not stay unfolded when hanging laundry. When you tighten it, with laundry on it (have to won't stay tight) it comes apart at the top and where the pole fits in the socket. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I had every intention of not using my dryer this summer, to bad this design sucks. I am 5' 2'' this is not made for me or for anyone who wants to use it as their main drying source. It does not hold 4 loads, it barely holds one and as I said collapses under the weight. Should have pop out balls like most pop up items today have, the plastic screw to tighten it doesn't cut it!

Lightweight Review by troutbend

No way does this hold 4 of my wash loads, but maybe mine are larger than average. I can get 1 1/2 to 2 loads on it.

I wish it had a more secure means of tightening the umbrella part on the supporting pipe because it just doesn't hold up under the weight of wet laundry. The way it is designed is not sturdy enough to hold a lot of heavy wash that includes towels or blue jeans, and the clothesline often collapses under the weight about half way through hanging up the clothes. The metal is very light-weight aluminum and it might bend and warp over time. One clue to me should have been the shipping weight: it's a very light box when it comes.

I expect this clothesline to last for only a couple of years for drying sheets and smaller laundry, and then I'll be looking for a sturdier product.
