GQF Box Brooders are designed to eliminate stress in young birds by providing plenty of heat, fresh air, light, feed and water space, and sanitary conditions for a confined area. Three clear plastic panels allow full and easy viewing of the brooder’s interior. Each brooder comes with three 28.5' troughs which maybe used for either feed or water. Ample feed and water space is necessary to allow weaker chicks access in the presence of more dominant chicks.
Any trough may be equipped with optional automatic watering to provide the large quantity of water necessary. Failure to provide proper feed and water space can result in slower weight gain and perhaps higher chick mortality. The troughs are mounted on the outside of the brooder so that the chicks do not mix droppings into the food or water. The 300-watt heater provides sufficient heat while the vented plastic side panels keep out drafts.
As chicks are drawn to light rather than heat, each heater has a socket for a low wattage attraction light bulb (2 bulbs included), which helps to hold the chicks in the heated area. Each brooder comes with a thermometer and a wafer thermostat, which is accurate to 1 degree.
The floor is a thin wire ½” mesh which will allow droppings to easily pass through. For small chicks like quail this floor requires that a layer of No 1628 DACB paper or paper towels be laid down on the wire for the first 4 to 7 days after which quail may stand on the ½” wire floor.
Day old poultry and ducks can be placed directly on the wire. Drop pans are made of lightweight aluminum for long life. Drop pans can be easily pulled out even when brooders are stacked and the wire floor is heavy with birds.
- This box brooder is universal as each side panel comes with an adjustable gate to regulate openings for chick size.

- Very mixed feelings on product. Review by Calvin Soileau, Jr.
Value Quality Price
I received the brooder over a month ago and still have not been able to use it. Shipping time frame was acceptable. Assembly went well in spite of instructions. Brooder was missing thermometer & feed/water troughs (3). Rural King blamed manufacturer who shipped item. They have contacted manufacturer to request missing items who then sent the thermometer (wrong one for brooder) but still no feed/water troughs. This has made for a very unpleasant buying experience of what seems like a good product.

- Chicks loved it! Review by Paula Everdell
Quality Price Value
Received the brooder very quickly. Had no problem assembling the brooder. Goes together quickly, but one needs a big space to work in for assembly. I really appreciated the absorbing mat that was included complementary with the purchase. More expensive than newspaper lining to use but so much cleaner.

- game changer Review by forbes march
Quality Price Value
Having tried a few thousand birds in large Rubbermaid water-tanks and on floors in coops, saw this in the catalogue.
The traditional method means unregulated temps, bedding changes and costs and waterers which drown day-olds and, spilage wets bedding causing disease and cold. Traditional brooders waste floor space as you can't go vertical.
These boxes work perfectly and the birds grow almost 50% quicker in my limited experience- probably because of the continuous water and perfect heat controls.
My loss rate went from 10-15% to 1% immediately. I can grow out 9 times as many birds per square foot, the automatic waterers work like a charm, there's no bedding cost or related stress to me or the birds and the whole process takes 1/3 the time AND at the end of the day, once you take waterers, feeders, brooder boxes and lamps into consideration, this method is cheaper for me.
Only down side is the cleaning between flocks. The heater doesn't remove quickly but can't be submerged. I'll probably "farmer" a quick detach system to get the heater off quickly.
Bought one to test, bought another 9 of them 2 weeks later and I'll be expanding with another 20 as soon as these guys head-off to market.

- Better assembly directions Review by Benny Scarbro
Price Value Quality
This is a good product but it comes unassembled and the directions are not very good. I consider myself fairly handy and do not usually have problems putting things together. I ended up taking it apart four times before getting it right. It took the best part of a day. I would still recommend this product but be ready to spend some time on assembly

- Delivery and brooder was fine. Review by Dewayne McKellar
Quality Price Value
Received the order very timely. The instructions on assembling of the brooder could be more simple. Without my wife's help I would probly still be trying to put it togrther. So, I guess what I'm saying is that this should only be sold to married men or men who continue to live at home with their mamma.
