I scavenged the internet looking for cheap, good laying chick breeds. Other places, like cackle hatchery were great, just .50 cents more that included shipping. I was tempted, but I decided to visit rural king and they had the rare breed that I was looking for. It was around 2.00 and I was thrilled! I bought 25 chicks, so far, so good. No illness yet. 2 had pasty butt, but you can't help that! :)

I bought 6 Golden Buff peeps to add the flock of 18 I already have. They are now almost 2 months old and doing fantastic. Healthy, fully feathered and growing like crazy! I am very happy with them. They were bought at the new Rural King in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Couldn't be happier!

After being warned about low quality, sickly chicks, we took a chance on the last 6 chicks in the store. They were heavily discounted and were the rejects various types of chicks the store carried. Well, almost a year later and they are all healthy, happy and the 4 hens are laying an egg a day! Very Very happy with them and cant wait to get more when they show up this spring.

Can you list the breeds that the hatcheries most often supply Rural King with for in store sale? We purchased a variety of chicks at the new Rural King in Xenia, OH. They are fun robust birds, but they are all different, and we are having a hard time identifying them.

Thanks so much.
