I assembled my tiller according to the instructions, added appropriate fuel, and started the engine. Extremely impressed with the ease of starting. Decided to try it in a small area of my garden and when I was making my third pass of about 15 feet the handle came apart on one side. I found the bolt that had broken off and the u-shaped head of the bolt had come off. I have been trying to get a new bolt but have not found one yet. I plan to visit Rural King this week and see if they have the bolt.

Great Small Cultivator Review by Pat

Nice little machine, works great especially when you back up with it.
The one problem is it's a bit hard starting sometimes.
The air cleaner fell off about 10 minutes into the first run and I found that the screw that held it on was bent and the housing cracked possibly dropped, I called RK and was told that RK carries no parts for it.
I called the company and they just needed proof that I just bought it and they sent all the parts to repair, no biggie.

I bought this one last year from Home Depot and loved it at first. Then it wouldn't start. Took it for repairs an hour from home and they refused to service it. Took it back and after much haggling finally got my money back. They recalled these units and R.K. in Harrisburg Il. had seven or eight new ones tagged for return. I am surprised they are selling them this year. It worked great if it would only have ran...

Awesome ! Review by Gary West

This machine didn't just exceed my expectations, it totally amazed me. It doesn't just break up the soil like larger tillers, it pulverizes it ! Tilled a strip of lawn for tomatoes. On the third pass it dug so deeply the guard was dragging on the soil. I had to pull it backwards, but that's a good option to have.
The narrow width allowed me to till inside my wife's flower beds. Its light weight makes it easy to pick it up and place it where you want it.
The engine started on the second pull and ran beautifully. I have not had to pull it more than two times, and often it starts on the first pull.

Buy something else Review by grandmajo

I bought this tiller at Rural King last summer. I got it put together, mixed the oil and gas to the proper ratio and filled the tank. I was able to get it started a couple of times but it died both times after running for about 15 seconds. My fiance got it started once last fall, tilled about 3 feet with it and declared it worked great. Today he is not saying that, he's out in the shop trying to get the blasted thing started. No matter how many times you hit the primer bulb there is NO gas in the carb, We've tried all the tips in the owners manual plus a few tricks of our own and nothing works. Totally worthless piece of crap!

Piece of Junk Review by Troy Martin
Price
Value
Quality

I have never been more disappointed with a product in my entire life. Within the first two times I used this product, I had to have it serviced under warranty due to transmission failure. I had to travel 45 minutes to drop it off only to have it sit for at least 10 days before I could pick it up. One week after the warranty ran out the gas cap broke, the gas line rotted out, and the accelerator cord had to be adjusted out to its farthest setting to make it run at full choke. It would not run in any other setting. I was very attentive to the gas to mixture ratio by measuring with a cup to verify that the mix was perfect. After 3 days of working on this tiller to get it running, I ran it for 250 minutes before it seized up. Now it is a worthless piece of junk. Do not buy this product. You will be very disappointed with it.

I received excellent delivery time for my tiller. It arrived on the third day after placing the order. I had no problems in assembling the tiller and mixing the oil with the gas. After pulling the rope five times the tiller ran perfect with no miss or lack of power.. I have used the tiller two times to cultivate and get rid of weeds and it has performed nicely.
The only thing I could suggest is a better way of holding the tiller when starting. When you have to hold the throttle with one hand and pull the rope with the other hand leaving it hard to making the tiller not move.

A workhorse of a cultivator. Runs great and even starts easily. I applied well rotted manure and tilled it in. It mulched it up with no problems. Garden is growing nice and not too many weeds so haven't tried it to go between rows, but I know it will handle the task. Price was cheaper than other sites and its more powerful than other models. The wheel assembly is free on this model and $70 on other models. Great value and a great product.

The machine went together within 5 minutes, started on the 4th pull and did over 3 hours work on the first day I bought it. It works nicely between rows. My home is in the middle of the Ozarks in Missouri and the soil is very rocky. This machine had no problems handling them. Several rocks the size of a softball got caught in the tines but popped right out without any damage. I'm impressed with the quality of the machine for the price. I would recommend this machine to anyone who needed a small cultivator for managing weeds in gardens and flowerbeds.

Ordered this from RuralKing.com, and received within 3 business days. Rural King price and order fulfillment is great. Now, here's the bad part. I assembled the tiller, and used for about 30 minutes. Used the tiller today (2nd time out with it), and after about 30 minutes run time today, the gearcase broke in half! If I could rate Value and Quality at zero stars, I would do that. I'm anxious to see if I can get a full refund, as I really don't want another piece of junk like this.

After looking around and comparing cultivators at the box stores I went with the Earthquake and am very satisfied with my decision. Only used it twice but it starts easily, and did a good job in my small garden. The ground is not all that hard but it had no problem turning up the earth to about 4 or 5 inch depth. Light weight to carry and rolls OK with the wheels too. Overall I would say I made a good choice....so far! Assembly was easy too. Seems to be built well and RualKing shipped quickly. Happy so far and would recommend to others.

I wasn't sure what I'd get for a couple hundred dollars but when I put it together ( took all of 5 minutes) cranked it up and hit the weed overgrown flower beds, this little guy, blew my mind.
It ripped, right through some tough areas.
Other than having to stop a few times and remove a rock or two and some tangled up weeds on the tyne shaft, it worked great.
It's a winner to me.

Worth the money. Review by Kent McLean
Price
Value
Quality

I bought it to till, cultivate, and with the optional dethather, dethatch. The culitvator went together easily, no tools required. I put 1 gallon of gas in my can, added the oil (included wth the cultivator), shook it all well, then filled up the cultivator.

It took about 10 pulls to get it started the first time (primer, choke, pull, and some combination of those) and it came to life. I gave it some gas and it stalled. I restarted on the third or fourth pull, and I let it idle and warm up for a few minutes. The manual says it needs about 2 hours run time to break in. I tried to take it easy the first hour or so.

I started tilling a wet spot (standing water; it would leave a puddle 6" deep if you shoveled a hole that deep) in the yard. Because I was breaking through 6" tall grass, I pulled the cultivator backwards, going about an inch deep. A few more passes like that and I was through the roots. A few more passes, letting the machine pull itself forward, and I was cultivating 6" deep. If you take it easy and don't force it, it will work a small (20'x20') patch in about an hour. The next day, I tilled a strip of 4" tall grass about 150' long by 1' wide. The ground was dryer, but the same 1" at a time process got me past the roots and into soil. There were tree roots along that path. With gentle application of the tines, it would break through 1/2-inch roots. I was thrilled. That patch took about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

When I was hosing off the dirt (after letting the engine cool), I realized I still had the wheels up in their transport mode, not their cultivator mode. Next time it should be even easier.

For the price, I'm very happy with the job it can do. The cultivator is light enough to pick up when it gets stuck, but heavy enough to do the job. For those who had trouble keeping it running, read the manual for starting tips; it makes a difference.

I'm hoping the dethatcher is equal to the cultivator.

Bought and assembled the cultivator. Started up first try and tilled great in the veggie garden. Used for a couple of weeks without a problem. Made the mistake of using regular 2 stroke oil and scored the piston. I had called the manufacturer, but they do not have replacement parts and want to sell a complete motor for more than the cost of a new unit. Make sure you use the proper 2 stroke oil. Was able to find replacement parts as it is the same engine that is used on pocket motorbikes and ordered new piston and rings (search for 40-5 43cc motor if you need parts).

I did a lot of checking on line and found this cultivator had the best reviews. Purchased on ebay for less then the Troy Bilt. They said 2 week delivery but it came in a week. Used it once so far. Easy to assemble. Engine Started first time for about 20 seconds before it stopped. Try to start 2 more times no good. Read instructions again did all correct steps will not start let it stay for a 1/2 hr then went thru the steps again to start turned right over and worked find did the job i was looking for. I can't tell you a lot about this product yet. I have only used it once and it did fine. Time and use will tell the rest.

I can tell you that I was most impressed with the price and service I got from Rural King. I was searching the internet for a small cultivator and found this one at Rural King. Theirs was priced more than $50 less than I found it anywhere else. I ordered it and chose the "Free Shipping" since I was in no hurry to get it. To my surprise it showed up at my door only two days later. I have ordered many items from many companies from the internet and this is the fastest I ever received anything.
It was very easy to put together and I had it running in 15 minutes out of the box; no tools required. I can only hope it will hold up and perform as well as the company I purchased it from.

Thanks, Rural King...great job.
