Quality Price Value I've had linclon-Campbell Hausfield and neither worked or lasted very long. I took my new Hobart 140 out of the box and had it together in no time. I am familar with the functions so it was super simple to put together. The only thing I am going to change is the ground clamp--maybe something heavier. The people at Lafayette Rural King were very heplfuf and polite THANK YOU.

Questions on Hobart Handler 140 MIG Welder 115 Volt, 140 Amp, #500559
- From Brad at 2/5/13 9:49 PM
- Q: Are you able to weld thicker material than a 1/4" using multiple pass, if so how thick?
Thank you - Show Answer
- A: Hello Brad,
Yes, you can weld thicker than ¼” by making multiple passes. How thick depend on many things, the amount of passes you can effectively make and the skill of the operator. Off the record I would say 3/8” maybe 1/2” max for a knowledgeable welder.
If significant amount of your welds are a ¼” or greater than they should be looking a bigger 230V welder. If the majority of what they do is 1/8” or less with some ¼” and an occasional 3/8” the 140 should be perfect. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No
