    Schleich Frisian Stallion 13667

    $7.49

When foals are first born, they can't eat grass because their long legs make it impossible for them to reach it.

Originally from the Netherlands, ancestors of the modern-day Frisians valiantly carried Knights into battle, humbly worked on the farm, and victoriously competed in trotting races. Now, Frisians hold the privilege of serving as carriage horses, dressage competitors, circus participants, and many more. This active horse has countless desirable features including 'feathers' on their lower legs, thick manes and tails, healthy bone structure, good carriage, and willing temperaments. Ranging between fourteen and seventeen hands, this breed boasts a beautiful trot.

Sold for choice genetics, these cows are often bred with others to benefit those breeds with easier birthing or leaner beef. Texas Longhorn cattle have strong instincts and are very tough. They can live in arid areas, feeding on weeds and cactus, for long periods of time. Protected by their mother, these calves are exceptionally strong when born and begin walking very soon after birth.

Popular in the United States, Pintos are strictly scrutinized by color, pattern, and other visual aspects.

  6. Schleich Giraffe Male Eating 14389

    Schleich Giraffe Male Eating 14389

    $7.49

A giraffe's heart can measure two feet long and weigh twenty-two pounds.

Giraffes are the tallest land mammals-- their babies can reach six feet tall when they're born! Each giraffe has a unique pattern of spots on its coat -- subspecies of Giraffe are, in fact, differentiated by color and pattern variations as well as by geographic range. Some Giraffes are recognized by their rounded or blotched spots -- some with star-like extensions on a light tan background, running down to the hooves. Despite the Giraffe's unusually long neck, it has the same number of vertebrae as humans -- only seven. Giraffes graze far and wide across the southern African bush and savannah, browsing the tops of trees for new shoots. Giraffes can go for two or three days without water, just like camels. They have several knobs, called ossicones, on their heads that are covered with fur. Giraffes sleep for only up to an hour at a time and can survive without sleep for an entire day. They spend most days just ambling around, but when they decide to run, they're fast and can reach up to thirty five miles per hour! Some Giraffes live in herds of up to fifteen, but the social structure constantly changes.

  10. Schleich Moose Bull 14619

    Schleich Moose Bull 14619

    $7.49

Moose's antlers fully grow within three to five months, making them one of the fastest growing organs in animals.

Known as elk in Europe, moose are the largest of all the deer family. These large animals have elaborate forking antlers and long dark brown hair. They live in northern forests where alder, aspen, and willows abound. Moose are particularly well adapted to cold weather and prefer to live where summer temperatures don't get any hotter than sixty degrees. They eat newly grown leaves, as well as the tips of twigs. Their twelve sets of broad teeth at the rear of the mouth, six pairs of molars and six pairs of premolars, help them grind up even the toughest woody plants. Their rutting (or breeding) season lasts from early September to late October. Each year during the rut they lose their antlers; they then re-grow another set during the winter that follows. Most of the year, moose stay away from people, but during rutting season they've been known to charge people, cars, and even houses!
