Q & A

Questions on Two Pole 50 Amp Circuit Breaker HOM250CP

  • From Terry at 9/10/13 2:59 PM
    • Q: My new hot tub requires a 50amp breaker vs my old hot tub had a 30 amp and a 20 amp inside the GFCI box. Can I use your 50amp breaker inside my GFCI box (of course I will be removing the two old breakers). Also, does your breaker accept #6 AWG?

      Thanks
    • Show Answer
    • A: Hello Terry,

Any 50 amp breaker would need at least a #6 AWG wire, so you're good there. Square D does make a 50amp GFCI, 240v (double pole) breaker, which you can order (both in Homeline and QO - common for hot tubs). Otherwise, for liability purposes, we cannot advise whether or not to use the current 50a breaker you possess. You would need to check local code on the GFCI vs regular 50a breaker.

      Have a great day!
