Customer Reviews

Overall Review by Jonathan

It is a nice well built unit. I have to tighten the screws on the firebox door ever week because they loosen up and i warped the hinge screws but not to bad. I warped the shaker grate but it was under warranty and the US Stove Customer service was great and told me hold to harden the grates so i did not have the same problem again

Best Heat You Can Get Review by Robbie

Had a regular Ashley wood stove for 10yrs. Between it and my central unit it kept my house warm on the coldest days. Upgraded to the US Stove 1500 Series in 2014. Don't need the central heat anymore!!! If it's not below 30 degrees I don't build a fire because it gets my home to warm for my family! I have approx. 1600 ft of living space and a full basement and on the coldest most miserable days it keeps my house between 70-76. The stove sets in my basement and I just let the heat blow out the stacks freely while leaving my door to the upstairs open. I was called by the freight company and I set the delivery date and it came as expected, assembly went fine. To the people who complain about the parts rattling or not fitting, TAKE YOUR TIME, Follow the instructions its not a 5 min assembly but well worth the time it takes. Once I had mine assembled I built a small fire inside it just to burn off the oil, dirt etc. A little excess smoke and smell should be expected at first. Then I built a good warm fire, once it reached the correct temp the blowers kicked on and man did it put out the heat. CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS STOVE!!!! Warm and cozy in Middle TENN!

Good Stove for Cheap Heat Review by Dave P.

Have had one in use for 3 years now. been a good stove, but A few problems have arose. First the auto draft control in the door has never worked, I have to leave the ash pan door open slightly or the fire goes out. Second, The blowers ( which is actually one motor with a fan on each end) suck. they rattle and arent very powerfull. would be much better to just have a regular single squirrel cage fan. Third, most of the screws on the outside of the stove have worked loose and you cant tighten them because they just strip out. Fourth , the ash pan is too small, only 2 inches deep. all in all, good budget stove, but not made to last. (inside the door says CHINA)

Love this stove! Review by Lisa Wickham

This wood/coal furnace was already installed in our home when we bought it in 2002. It heats our house amazingly well! It keeps it between 73 and 80 degrees easily. We have had to replace the grates once and now need to replace the latch for the feed door, but otherwise, it has been super low maintenance. Clean out the ashes, add a few drops of oil to the blowers a couple times a season and it is good to go.

Great Stove Review by Dave H.

I have used This model stove for the last 21 years. Other than changing the firebrick every 3 to 4 years & the shaker grates every 6 to 7 years which i consider normal Routine maintenance on these units since they are sole source of heat. My units are fired up up 4 1\2 months a year.

Best stove for the money Review by Central Illinois

The stove was delivered very quickly. My house is 2900 square feet and this stove can heat the entire house if I keep feeding it. Stove works great. The blowers are powerful enough to push air all the way to the vents in the ceiling of my second story. Blowers are very quiet as well. Very happy with this purchase and would deffinitely recomend.

Hefty Review by Dave

Have used this wood furnace for over 18 years in my last 2 homes. No problems what so ever. Normal wear parts available every where( firebrick, grates & door gaskets.) Will buy another one when the current on wears out.

Blowers are Junk Review by 88Dodge

Ever since I bought this blowers shook and make noise. I've had 3 replacement blowers all junk 1 shook itself apart as soon as it turned on. Other than that not too bad of a furnace.

Extremely Pleased - Just Bought and Set Up. Review by Pete Hurley - Hurley Byrd LLC

This is a fall 2014 review of the 1500 I just received and have set up for my shop. Long term review will take a few years but I know there are others hunting wood furnaces and, like me, appreciate current reviews.

I have been shopping wood furnaces for several years as a main heat source for our 1500 foot wood shop and to double as a heat source for kilning small loads of lumber.

I finally dove in and bought his unit after looking at all the other makes..... which I suspect most are made by the same company, US Stoves. I was also looking at the Daka of comparable size but liked the larger ash door on this unit along with the twin blowers.

I bought this for 1200 plus 150ish for shipping and I was tickled to have it here at 1350. The trucking company was Con-Way Freight and was superb in helping me get it set on the concrete pad directly from the trailer, no easy feat either.

I am pleased to say, my unit arrived in perfect condition. Not a ding nor a scratch anywhere with everything needed to set up. Everything went together as it should and I have had no issues.

For the price, I feel this is a high quality stove. Keep in mind, this is not a 3500 dollar unit and your expectations need to be aligned with the price. But I personally feel the value is excellent.

AND... get this. Rural King provides a Norton Price Guarantee at no extra charge.......... and get this this!!!! They dropped the price $100 a few days ago. So, I processed the claim to Norton and within two days, I received my refund. I am still surprised how easily this happened. Soooo..... my new stove cost 1250 delivered and set on its pad.

I have fired this unit once and it worked perfectly......... and chunks out the heat too. It will easily heat this particular shop. We are considering a second unit already.

Buy this furnace!!

Wood furnace heats well, despite other issues Review by Tim Sollman

Once I finally received it, the sheet metal where the blower holes are located was bent. The damper control on the door is non-functional.The plaque that is on the door was not place in the right position so had to remove and re apply so I could put the handle on. I currently wedge a rock inside the door to hold the damper open. The stove heats well. Just feel like I got a scratch and dent model for paying full price. I didn't have time to send it back as I needed a heat source immediately or I would have. I have no doubt that this stove will pay for itself quickly, just wish it would have been in better shape. Be prepared to wait a while on the freight company as they are in no hurry to get your item to you. Make sure you call the freight company and let them know you want it delivered to your door, not at the end of the drive.

The best stove on the market Review by woodchopper

We bought our 1500 hot blast series from rural king a couple of years ago. I was (like alot of others) worried about how much my upstairs would be heated. And I'm proud and happy to say that we have been truly blessed with how warm our upstairs is in the coldest of winter. The stove burns anywhere from 10-11 hours solid without the motor kicking off. We have one pipe blowing out freely in the basement and the other into the upstairs section via duct. The home is way over 2500 sq feet and we have zero complaints about being cold in the most frigid part of winter. Oh and our electric bill now runs in the $65-$70 range all winter long.

At "participating stores only" Review by Bittersweet

You'll like this stove, and you'll like the price. But if you want it for that price, either buy online or from a "participating store."

I bought it on season's end clearance about two weeks ago when I read the weekly ad on this site. Days later it dropped $200 more. I could get the difference reimbursed, and I still might from the corporation, but my local Rural King where I bought it isn't participating in the sale.

That's each store's decision, but if I had my decision back, I would have picked it up in Indiana, or had it shipped to my door. Honestly, both would have saved me more than buying it locally.

Does it come with a thermostat?
Does this hot stove need its own exclusive chimney, or can it be shared with the chimney the oil furnace is connected to?

the description mentions a optional Universal Filter Box Kit that can be used on the hotblast wood furnaces but it does not say how or where to get one at??

I stopped at the Ruralking here in Tiffin tonight and they acted like they did not know anything about the filter box kits and they did not bother to look in their system or call someone that might know on this.

Can you tell me how I can purchase one of the Filter Box Kits for the Hotblast wood furnaces??
