100% satisfied Review by Northern New York

After a great deal of research, I decided to go with the 1602R for my newly built home. My home is a "Cape May style" 3000 square foot (with basement) and has 9 foot ceilings. The furnace has performed as advertised and has no trouble heating the entire house with very little wood. On several occasions I have thrown a few to many pieces on the fire and was forced to open some widows. The folks at Rural King were super helpful and the unit was delivered in less than a week from my order. I highly recommended this unit for homes similar to my house or slightly larger. If you are going to by this model, get it at Rural King, best price and they can answer all your questions.

bang for your buck Review by CENTRAL NEW YORK

When I first bought the stove, and assembled it one of the pins for the feed door fell out, I am not impressed with the build quality, i had to fabricate my own pins. smoke curtain is cut crooked, and the insulation inside is not secure. Customer service is good, it came with a faulty limit switch and they immediately mailed a new one. The unit came to my door quickly, and with free shipping which was nice. I am impressed with the dual blowers as it does move a lot of heat. 2,500 Sq ft farmhouse stays toasty. Will do the job, just disappointed in a company that has been around so long, definitely lacking in the quality department.

One of my best investments Review by Leo Lopez

I live in central Texas so we are mostly exposed cold fronts with moderately cool temps in between. About 4 years ago we had a particularly harsh string of fronts with temps in the 20's. I spent over $2,000 in propane over a 10 week span to heat my 4,400 sq ft. home. That sent me searching for a solution. I purchased and installed this furnace 3 years ago as a stand alone unit not tied into my central heating ductwork. The unit sits in the basement, feeds one large duct up into the main hallway on the ground floor and gets return air through a stairway leading all the way up to the second floor. All I can say is that it paid for the entire installation by the second year. In fact last winter was far more severe than 4 years ago and propane is almost $1.00 more per gallon yet I only consumed $150 in propane between October 2013 and March 2014! There was a lot of hard work cutting, splitting, stacking, and feeding the furnace to accomplish that, but this should tell you what it is capable of. It literally saved me about $3,000 in propane last winter alone. Just using it during strong cold fronts alone would easily justify this investment. I strongly recommend it if you enjoy the logging work involved and the cost savings it delivers. I purchased mine from Rural King on sale, and it was by far the best price I could find anywhere.

good unit Review by bass guy

Heats my 3400 square foot home very well. Had my shaker great break and lost three motors but they replaced the motors with no problem and welded the grate myself. I would buy another.

A great furnace Review by Howard

We installed our 1602r the first week of January and are very pleased. Keeps our poorly insulated 2200 sq ft home at 72 degrees regardless of the outdoor temperature, and burns a lot less wood than the old furnace it replaced. Rural king has the best price around for this model,a very good investment.

Excellent Furnace Review by Carlton

We have an older brick ranch home that is 2000sf with a long duct that does not reduce. There is not basement and the furnace sits in the garage. It's not the best set up, but it was that way when we bought it this summer. The old wood furnace was 105k btu with a 500cfm blower. It simply would not heat my house. Wood consumption was extremely high and I was never able to heat my house over 66 degrees.

Since installing this furnace we are finally warm! The dual 800cfm fans move much more air through my long, non-reduced ducts and the stove is much more efficient, burning less wood and giving us a great capacity to heat. During sub-zero days we have been nice and toasty at 72degrees without much work from the furnace!

I'm super impressed and glad I made the switch. It will pay for itself in a year or two.

1602R Stove Review by AmosP

I have not attempted to install the new stove, as it is still pretty cold here, and I have to uninstall the one I'm using now. There is little doubt from the looks of it, it will do the job.
That was super sonic speed on the shipping, I believe I bought it on line and the second or third it was here, and the S&H was very reasonable, and the best price anyplace on the stove. Thank you, and I will return to buy something else at a later date.

Love this furnace Review by Mark

Just installed the furnace into a 2240 sq ft shop with 12 foot ceiling height that is not insulated very well at this time. Outside temp this morning is 19 degrees and temp in shop is about 75 degrees. The only item that I had to buy extra besides the chimney pipe and the cold air return was the wire for the thermostat.
Would highly recommend this furnace.
Price at rural King is several hundred dollars cheaper than any other place that I have found online and I even got to use the 20 percent off Black Friday coupon.
I am very pleased with this furnace. Rural King and Us Stove Company Rock!

Replaced outdoor wood boiler with this unit! So far couldn't be happier! Review by Satisfied

Heating a 2 story 1800's farm house with absolutely no insulation. It is brick construction with the original single pane windows! Too say the least our house is "drafty"! Sold our outdoor unit because it simply used entirely too much wood!
We were worried rather or not the 1602R would keep our house comfortable like our old one! I can tell you, there are no worries, this thing will heat you out of the house, we literally open the doors and windows often! Burn times of 8 hours or more should be expected!

A BIG thumbs up and 5 stars from our family in Indiana!
