If you are burning wood (not coal) and your grates and/or grate frame is broken, you should consider buying two 10' sections of 1/2" rebar and welding it into a 26" x 12" box with lateral supports welded together. It cost me $10 for the rebar, and now I have a very strong grate that works fine for wood...if you're burning coal, you'll need the shaker function, but for wood the rebar works great!
