instructions are terrible Review by mark

Instructions not very well established on parts .brush part was already assembled but when we put it all together per instructions the hitch is too far up in air when bring it down to attach to tractor bagger is high in air not level as in picture.I noticed in picture there are 2 holes in that part for hitch but ours only had one hole was wondering if it is supposed to have the second hole and that is what is making it stick up in the air any comments would be appreciated thanks or know what company's Web site to find out.thank you

A peice of junk Review by Len Steyer

You would be better off buying another sweeper already put together.
This is a piece of JUNK... The instructions are not user friendly.
I've had this product for 2 years & I get disgusted every time I use it.
Like other reviews BUY more washers. Plus I experience the same problems with the wheels that others have complained about.
It's not worth the aggravation. This is going to the junk yard the next time I go & I will never buy another YARD TUFF product again !!!

Review follow up from April. Review by Old Florida Dude.

OK, correction, it should have been 12 dozen assorted washers instead of 6 dozen.

If you have a very hard surface to sweep (concrete/asphalt/well established sod lawn), this will probably work for you.

If you have anything less (poor lawn/sand base/an area under tall oak trees) FORGET IT!!

My area was under tall oak trees. After adjusting to a workable height, I began sweeping. After the hopper fills about half way, the dynamics of the sweeper change, causing the wheels to loose traction and lock up, then dig into the ground!! It looks like I was "PLOWING" the area instead of sweeping the leaves up!

After a couple hours of further adjustment & attempts to sweep up the leaves, I gave in. For half the price of the sweeper, I could hire a couple of kids to rake up the leaves, and I would NOT have any equipment maintenance later!!

Product was returned for refund!

I'll use it later this month! Review by Old FL Dude

First off, go to the local 'big box' store & purchase about 2 dozen each 1/4", 5/16", & 3/8" flat and fender washers (6 dozen total) to ease your assembly. What washers you don't use here you will find some use for later on in life. The washers will prevent severe crushing of the formed tubes when tightening the supplied bolts & nuts, and act as filler bushings for some of the 'slop' that exists.

I'm old and slow, and it took about 6 hours for me to finish the assembly that I felt comfortable with. The instructions are almost useless & somewhat mis-leading. There is no info on the 1/8" backer boards that are on both sides of the brushes! But I will probably find out when I start using the sweeper.

NOTE: It appears that the sweeper will run continuously while being pulled, meaning that the hopper will probably jam when full. I've got my fingers crossed at this point. I intend to have a follow-up review later.

Nightmare Review by JoLynn

Took over 3 hours to assemble and instructions are extremely hard to figure out. Had to unassemble and reassemble many parts. It was the worst! Then it did not work at all! We had a lot of leaves, thus the need for the lawn sweeper. But the leaves clogged after going for only about 4 feet then the wheels would not turn which means the sweeper brushes would not turn. I kept trying to back up and then had to remove the leaves with my hands. Pretty soon the mower started to smell like it was overheating! It is not going to do the job and if I keep using it I think it will burn up the motor and there is no website to help with troubleshooting. It is the worst purchase I have ever made and I may never go to Rural King again because of it.

Poorly Engineered, Falls Apart Review by jhossafat

I agree with an earlier review about spending as much time fixing it as using it. Bolts break or fall out every time it is used. Brushes get stuck with the smallest of twigs or debris. I can't seem to find a place to buy parts for it that have broken and it is only has about 4 hours of use on it.

Don't last Review by Gretchen

The bolts break.. The net came apart .. I spent just about the same amount of time fixing it as using it.. Once you get it going, it does a ready good job for about a hour. Then back to fixing it again..

Awesome buy Review by Wade Bickerstaff

Have to say this sweeper beats anything I've seen in the hardware stores around here. Most of them are thin wall tubing and very thin sheet metal.

Great yard sweeper Review by Bibb

I bought this for my dad and put it together. It works great. He has a pretty rough yard, lots of dips and bumps and spots. Had It put together within an hour even though the instructions weren't the best. Broke one of the bolts but they are easily replaced. I found one in a drawer that fit. You have to empty more often than Caftsman but for two hundred dollars less you can't beat it.

Does the job it was purchased for Review by ESwearingen

Went together easily using the instructions and a little common sense. It gets a 4 on quality because after 1.5 trips through my yard I had to replace the 6 bolts that hold the brushes to the shaft, the originals broke off. I will probably replace all of the bolts this spring with better quality hardware. Beyond that, this sweeper has more than paid for itself in saving me time, and I highly recommend it.

appears a good buy pending actual use in fall Review by country bumpkin

Did not look promising at start with a beat up box appearing to have sat in warehouse too long, ripped and with parts poking out. We divided the 15 steps of assembly into 3 segments to preven burnout after reading review of poor assembly instructions (turned out to be accurate). We ended up putting one set of tubes on wrong as there is no indication one is right side and one is left, and the hitch upside down, but ultimately gotter dun. Advise would be after about step 10 just look at big picture on carton and go by feel rather than instructions. Once together appears solidly built and easy to use.

assembly Review by commander

It looks like your assembly instuctions particularly the hooper part, were drawn
up by a four year old kid. Had I continued to follow them I'd still be puting it
together, and that was yesterday. Finally threw them in the trash and figured it
out on my own.

give it 4 out of 5 Review by Norm

Just got the sweeper and gave it a test run. It is light weight and easy to handle.
It did the job and picked up leaves with no problem. The easy dump is truly easy to use. So for so good. Assembly is not fun, but could be worse.
