Rural King Employee Praise
We just left rural king, on a very busy Saturday afternoon. We went in for a barrel and of course to see the chickens. My two kids wanted a toy with a four wheeler and deer, so they each got one. We went to check out and my son (on the spectrum) was upset about having to hand over the toy to get scanned because he wanted to open it.
An employee by the name of Nanette (I believe this is her name, I foolishly forgot to ask her name so I called the store to figure it out and praise her) walked over while we were trying to check out and asked if she could help my son. She then took him to the customer service desk to get scissors to help him open the toy and then walked him over to an empty register to try and get the toy opened. He still didn’t quite understand what was going on since no one has ever went above and beyond like this to help out, so he was crying and letting out stem screams. She kept talking to him and explaining what she was doing in such a calm and patient manner that even I was soothed and felt calm throughout the meltdown. All of this was going on while my husband was still checking out and trying to pay for the items we were purchasing.
She eventually got it open for him and proceeded to walk us to the door, all while still talking to my son and reassuring him it was okay.
I’m not usually one to post much on public forums unless it’s about a yard sale (LOL), but this woman deserves to be praised. She deserves all the praise in the world for the kindness, compassion and care she showed to a visibly upset child that she didn’t have to help soothe or open a toy that we were paying for. She was not our cashier nor had we ever been in there before, but she chose to be a kind and go above and beyond her duties as an associate.
I have never in my 5 1/2 years of being a special needs mom seen this kind of compassion or love from a stranger, let alone an employee of a store. So from the bottom of this special needs mama’s heart, thank you so much!
I filled out the survey online to praise Nanette, but she deserves more than company praise!
If you happen to go into rural king or know Nanette personally, make sure to tell her what an amazing person she is!
