my boyfriend and I went into the store today for some bird feed and to look around. we always enjoy looking at the chicks they carry. unfortunately today, we saw 3 chicks in one bin on the ground gasping for breath, and in another bin one chick was stuck in their food dish. when I spoke to an employee about it, he stated that he had to go help another customer and asked if he could, I waved him off. I had asked another employee to talk to a manager, as I was a bit upset about the lack of care they showed their chicks. when I spoke to the manager he was lacking empathy or sympathy about what was going on, he stated that they check their chicks every hour and that another employee was going to handle the sick chicks, however we did not see anyone over near the chicks getting the sick ones out.
I understand that livestock and fowl have their own guidelines, but being someone who has trained in various animal husbandry skills, and the care that the manager showed in regards of the animals in his store was less than appealing. I was really disappointed that he did not want me to show him what was going on or which buckets were of my concern. he was very matter of fact and blaze about my concerns and did not show any empathy or sympathy of what I voiced.
