I want to recognize Tiffany, the Assistant Manager at Rural King in Columbus, Indiana, for truly exceptional customer service.
Rural King’s website showed a Stihl MS261 in stock at the Columbus store. Based on that, I drove from Bloomington, IN to Columbus, IN to purchase it. When I arrived, I learned the chainsaw was not actually in stock and the inventory count was inaccurate. Disappointed, I drove back home without the saw I needed.
Later, I called the Columbus store to confirm their actual stock and spoke to the manager on duty, who apologized and offered to order the MS261 for me. Since ordering was possible, I called my local Bloomington store instead, assuming it would be easier. I asked if they could place the same order for me and was told, “We don’t order items for customers.” I explained that the Columbus store was willing to do it, and after checking again with their manager, I was told the same thing – they still would not place a customer order.
At that point, I called the Columbus store back. That’s when Tiffany got on the phone. She was out of breath, and when I asked if she was okay, she told me she was pushing in carts. That alone told me everything I needed to know – she leads from the front, works hard, and has the kind of work ethic you can’t teach.
Tiffany not only took the time to help me, she was genuine, professional, and solution-focused the entire time. She didn’t make excuses. She didn’t pass the issue off. She found a way to help when another store refused to even try.
Because of her, I will continue to choose Rural King in Columbus for future purchases, even though it’s not my closest location. Employees like Tiffany are the reason a company earns loyal customers.
