FAQS
Can I refill any propane tank at Rural King?
Not all tanks are eligible for refilling. Your tank must meet certain safety and certification standards.
What would make a tank ineligible for refill?
A tank cannot be refilled if it meets any of the following conditions:
- No valve: Tanks without a functioning valve cannot be filled.
- Damaged or leaking: Tanks showing signs of damage or leaking are unsafe and will be rejected.
- Out of date: Propane tanks are certified for 10 years from their manufacture date. If your tank is older than 10 years and hasn't been requalified, it cannot be refilled.
How can I tell if my tank is out of date?
Look for the manufacture or requalification date stamped on the tank’s collar or handle. If it has been more than 10 years without requalification, it is considered expired.
What are my options if my tank can’t be refilled?
We offer propane tank exchanges and sell new, empty tanks that can be filled on-site. Our associates can help you choose the best option.
